Hatfield Township

Recycling Guidelines

Hatfield Township residents must make arrangements for recycling with the hauler of their choice. See below for a list of haulers that operate in the township. Free recycling bins are available at the Hatfield Township Municipal Building, which is open Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Additional recycling bins can be purchased at hardware stores. Smaller recycling bins are also available at the Hatfield Township Municipal Building for residents who live in apartments.

Though each hauler has its own instructions explaining what materials to recycle and how to sort them, the hauler you select should collect clear glass, aluminum cans, plastic containers labeled with numbers 1 and 2, and newspapers. Haulers may pick up additional materials as well. Please contact your hauler with any questions about recyclable materials, material sorting, and collection schedules.

In addition to the materials picked up by your hauler, Hatfield Township offers programs for corrugated cardboard, yard waste, leaves, tree branches, and Christmas trees. See below for details of the collection program for leaves, branches, and Christmas trees.

If you wish to recycle a material that is not included in regular recycling collection, you can search for a drop-off.

Leaf collection dates and guidelines

J.P. Mascaro will collect leaves placed curbside in biodegradable bags from Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18, 2011. Leaves should be placed at the curb by 6:00am on the collection day. Leaf bags are available at the Hatfield Township Municipal Building for 4 for $1.00, and can also be purchased at grocery stores and home improvement stores. Place leaves and branches at the curb so that they do not obstruct the sidewalk.

Tree branches will be collected from Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 4, 2011 beginning at 6:00am, or they can be dropped off at the Public Works Building on the third Saturday of every month from 8:00am-12:00pm. Tree branches should not be more than 5 inches in diameter, but there is no restriction on length. Place branches at the curb or edge of the driveway without obstructing the sidewalk. This service is for fallen tree limbs and pruning, not for byproducts of tree removal or landscaping. The township reserves the right not to collect excessively large branch piles. Root balls, hedges and grass clippings should be collected by your private trash service

Reminder: this year's leaf and branch collection is township-wide with no zones established. We encourage you to place your leaves and branches at the curb prior to the Monday 6:00am start of collection.

You may also compost your yard waste, or you may bring it to the township's monthly drop-off at the Hatfield Township Public Works Building, located at the corner of Unionville Pike and Richmond Rd. This drop-off accepts leaves, garden residue, shrubbery, and small tree trimmings. The drop-off is open the third Saturday of each month. Please contact the township directly at 215-855-0900 to confirm the dates and times of drop-off events.
