Souderton Borough

Recycling Guidelines

Souderton Borough residents must make arrangements for recycling with the hauler of their choice. See below for a list of haulers that operate in the borough. Recycling bins are available at the Borough Office.

Though each hauler has its own instructions explaining what materials to recycle and how to sort them, the hauler you select should collect aluminum, steel, and bimetal cans, glass, number 1 and 2 plastics, newspapers, and magazines. Haulers may pick up other materials in addition to these. Please contact your hauler with any questions about recycling materials, material sorting, and collection schedules.

If you wish to recycle a material that is not included in regular recycling collection, you can search for a drop-off.

Local recycling haulers

This list is meant as a guide for residents and may not include all haulers that operate in the borough. Several of the haulers listed also provide commercial recycling collection.

Leaf collection dates and guidelines

Rake your leaves to the curb so the borough can remove them using vacuum equipment. The vacuum equipment is designed to pick up only leaf waste and cannot pick up piles that contain excessive quantities of sticks, stones, hedge clippings, plant materials, and other trash. Please note that the borough will not collect leaves in alleys.

Rake your leaves out to the street by the beginning of the scheduled collection week for your area. Once the crew has passed your street they will not return until the next scheduled collection time.

The borough is divided into two sections for leaf collection. View the map to determine which section you are in.

Section 1

Includes the area east of the railroad tracks to the Borough line between Reliance Road and Cherry Lane

1st Collection: November 7-11
2nd Collection: November 21-23
3rd Collection: December 5-9

Section 2

Includes the area west of the railroad tracks to the Borough line between Reliance Road and Cherry Lane

1st Collection: October 31-November 4
2nd Collection: November 14-18
3rd Collection: November 28-December 2

The Borough will collect Christmas Trees curbside in both sections during the week of January 2, 2012.

The Borough also provides monthly curbside brush collection from residences. Collection is on the first Monday of every month. Contact the Borough Office prior to the collection day to schedule a pick-up. Tree branches should be no more than 6" in diameter and cut to a length of six to eight feet. This collection is for tree branches only; other materials such as small sticks, root balls, and hedge clippings should be collected by arrangement with residents' private trash service.

You may also compost your yard waste.
